Useful information for Colorado home owners

  1. Do homebuilders ever have mold in their brand-new homes? Yes, and here's why. During the building process moisture can be trapped in the sub floor space, attic space, or crawl space of the new home being built. This trapped moisture overtime, if gone unchecked, will cause condensation to occur on any wood and organic surface. The wood then acts like a sponge holding in the moisture that occurred from the condensation process. As the home is sealed tight during the building process, the woood surfaces don't have time to dry correctly, thus trapping in the moisture left behind in the wood. Presto change oh! Mold growth!

  2. I think it's important to note that the really bad black Mold such as Stachybotrys that you read about online typically don't occur in the home building process. Those types of Mold require a lot of water to grow with a high flow rate over an extended period of time.
